About Rachel Sahtout

Rachel Sahtout

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

What if I told you that you don’t have to do this alone? As your therapist, I will walk by your side through every step of your mental health journey. I will offer kindness and compassion no matter what happens. I will provide empathy and understanding every time we meet. No matter your goals and struggles, my aim is to support you. Over my nearly two decades in mental health, I have seen time and time again that powerful change is possible through a therapeutic connection like this.

There are many reasons why my clients come to counseling. Some of them are feeling stuck. A part of their life feels stagnant and they know they have a higher potential they’re not reaching. Some of them feel unsure and unconfident, walking through life second-guessing their decisions and interactions. Some of them have realized that their moods aren’t what they could be. They feel unnecessarily anxious while going about their daily life or the grips of depression are bringing them down. And some find themselves in the midst of a stressful life transition — such as a move, a new job, a break-up, or shifts in family dynamics — and they’re unable to feel settled. Whatever the cause, my clients come to me because they don’t feel whole.

Together, we will collaborate on a plan for your therapy journey. You’re the expert in your life, so I will follow your lead on what you want to focus on and what your goals are. On days when your next step seems overwhelming, I’ll step in and support you. I can help you build self-esteem, understand yourself better, learn ways to cope with the stressors of your life, find and develop your strengths, discover the right path for you, and start thriving again.

As someone who strongly supports personal agency and autonomy, and human rights for all, I am an LGBTQ+ ally and welcome clients of all races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and spiritual beliefs. I believe that offering another person empathy is the foundation to solving many of the world’s struggles, and I became a therapist to do just that. Poet and activist Amanda Gormon once wrote, “For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we’re brave enough to be it.” I want to see that light in the world, and I want to be that light where I can to those who need it.

Therapeutic Approach

I strive to create a deeply personalized and supportive space for each client by taking an integrative approach to therapy and blending a variety of therapeutic models. I draw from therapeutic models such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and utilize a person centered and compassion focused framework. This eclectic blend of clinical models provides a comprehensive and flexible framework, allowing me to tailor strategies to each client’s unique needs, fostering growth, resilience, and overall well-being. While therapy can be uncomfortable at times, we will have fun too. Feel free to crack a joke when it feels right — I will do the same.
